It is also among the strongest development priorities in Shanghai Province and thus well suited for future successful cooperation between businesses and knowledge institutions in both regions.

It is a wide theme including the health treatment, training of hospital personnel, medicine, equipment and systems for improvement of life quality etc.

The following initiatives have already paved the way for cooperation within the theme between actors in the two regions and could be used as a platform for new development and business cooperation:

Region Midtjylland signed in May 2009 a cooperation agreement with the following concrete cooperation projects within the neuroscience field between Aarhus University Hospital (AHU) and Hua Shan and Yue Yang hospitals in Shanghai.

Neurosurgery stay at Hua Shan by doctors from AUH, PET research stay at AUH by doctors from Hua Shan Hospital, research concerning. epilepsy / neurology, comparative study on Hammel Neuro Center about whether acupuncture can alleviate spasticity and training program for Chinese nurses at AUH.
